Eye Care Hospital Accreditation

Patient safety is the fundamental principle of healthcare. There is a wide spread awakening all over the globe, about the need to improve the quality of healthcare in terms of actual patient care and patient safety. Patient satisfaction is the key determinant of quality of care. NABH Objective is to operate accreditation and allied programs in collaboration with stakeholders focusing on patient safety and quality of healthcare

NABH Eye Care Standards has been formulated, keeping in view the resources available in the small Eye care hospitals, functional requirements of Eye care service providers, with emphasis on standards for infrastructure such as building, equipments, manpower, medication management, infection control and patient safety norms.

As against the general perception, the adverse events including post surgical infection rate in eye surgeries are quite common which calls for focus on quality and patient safety in such hospitals. It is crucial to develop system and processes in Eye Care organization aiming at internalizing the quality and patient safety within its organisations. As very large number of standalone eye care clinic/eye care organizations exist in the country and are keen to join the quality journey, NABH has developed accreditation programme for standalone eye care organizations, in consultation with various stake holders in the country.
